Our retreat house is the lovely Casa del Sorriso (House of the Smile), a 16th century ex-Capuchin friary, beautifully retored,with original church and library. at Erice, near Trapani, in western Sicily.
Erice, at around 750 metres above sea level,overlooks the city of Trapani, the low western coast towards Marsala,Capo San Vito to the north-east, and the Egadi islands,with spectacular views.
The home of Elyminian,Punic,Greek,Roman,Arabic and Norman civilisations, Erice houses the Venus Castle,built on the ancient Temple of Venus,founded according to legend,by Aeneas.
